Carpenter

We are a fabricator, manufacturer and designer based in Penrose, Auckland. Specialising custom fabrications for retail and commercial installations. Working with MDF, PBD, wood and metals for fabrication.

Currently we are looking for a person with carpentry/construction background to join our factory on a full-time basis. Would suit someone with a background or qualification on construction or carpentry. Candidates without carpentry experience are also considered on an apprentice basis with an interest to learn new skills.

The role will be primarily based in the factory doing a variety of fabrication work including cabinetry construction, metal cutting, technical drawing interpretation and installations on site.

Our ideal candidate would preferably have the following skills.

-Hard working, ability to adapt to tasks and workload
-Manual and Power tool experience
-Accurate and attention to detail
-Ability to work with mathematics to interpret technical drawings
-Own reliable transport to get to and from work with Restricted License minimum.

Ideal applicant can start immediately. Pay negotiable depending on experience.

We are an innovative New Zealand owned and operated Playground design manufacturing and installation company based in Onehunga, Auckland. In our factory we craft wood, steel, plastic and rope to build customised playgrounds for schools and councils.

We are looking for a person with solid carpentry skills to join our manufacturing and installation team on a full time basis. Would suit someone with an NZ Certificate in Construction Trade Skills – Carpentry or Allied Trades (Level 3).

The role will be mainly factory based doing a wide variety of playground manufacturing tasks including carpentry work, rope work and rubber mat production. The position will also spend time out of the factory installing structures in playgrounds which involves measuring out and marking, carpentry and construction skills.

Sought after attributes are:
• Flexible, able to cope with different tasks / areas potentially on a daily basis.
• Comfortable with travel around and out of Auckland if / when working with the installation team.
• Hand and power tool experience.
• Able to measure and follow drawings and verbal instructions.
• Accuracy and attention to detail and safety
• Focussed on delivering a high quality result
• Friendly, self-motivated and with good communication skills
• Reliable with own transport.

You will predominately be responsible for assisting the Senior Estimator with all smaller quoting and tendering works, whilst they focus on the large job.

Key responsibilities:
Providing contractual support around contract preparation, administration and document control
Quoting- reviewing of specifications and scope of works required by main contractors
Measuring and marking of plans using Adobe Acrobat Reader and/or architect’s scale on printed plans to properly quantify materials and labour
Cost Estimation and Planning
Procurement & tender evaluation
Verification of progress payment claims
Variation Management
Sub-contractor and supplier’s evaluation and management
Cost reporting
Other ad hoc tasks assigned by the company.
Skills
Quantity surveying or construction related qualification (recent graduate is preferred)
Microsoft Suite and Mathematically strong skills
1-2 years estimating / QS experience within the construction environment
